~ Notes from the Editor ~

Howdy Folks -
Got quite a bit of news this month. First, it is with regret that we announce that Quicksilver Kid has resigned as Trail Boss due to pressing personal obligations. The new Trail Boss will be Tres Pinos and his position as Deputy Mayor will be filled by Tie Long. Tres did an outstanding job with the stages for the January match and we wish him and Tie the best with their new positions.
I heard a lot of compliments about the January match - the theme was gambling and I thought it went off quite well. Marshal Buck Savage did a fine job building the gambling props, and I think we will see them again at this year's Adobe Walls, where the theme will again be gambling. Thirty-five hardy shooters braved the dire weather predictions and stayed high and dry until the scores were posted. Then, with the sun brightly shining for the first time that day, it began to rain.
Speaking of the "Battle at Adobe Walls" (note the new name), now is the time to signup for this year's grand extravaganza! You can download an entry form here, or if you do not have MS Word, download a pdf version here. I have created a new web page for AW info. You can access it from the home page or click here. There's a list of folks who have signed up plus some AW history and some pics. Planning is underway as you read this, so if you have any ideas for AW '07 and its gambling theme, please email any of the board members for consideration.
Another new feature is the "What is CAS?" button on the home page. It is a brief description of our sport for those unfamiliar with our game who visit our site. It contains some basic aspects plus a couple of pics and links to the SASS rules and site. It is essentially the official club flyer in web page form. By the way, if any members would like some club flyers to pass out or display to the public, just contact me or one of the board members for copies.
Club dues are due in March - $36 keeps your match fees at $15, so don't forget to re-up at the February match (or you can wait 'til the last minute and signup at the March match).
Thanks again to everyone who came out to help setup and teardown, and of course to the Free Grazers for always-fine chow.
Keep your powder dry and I'll see you at the February match!
Happy Trails,
- Fightin' Frank
