Howdy Folks -

Good News and Bad News.

The Bad News is that unfortunately, the Manteca match "Ambush at Durham Ferry" (which was scheduled the same weekend as Adobe Walls) has been canceled (see www.californiagunslingers.com).  Their range still has too much rainwater to shoot.  The Good News is that we expect to see some of their fine shooters at this year's Adobe Walls.  This has forced us to limit the match to the first 100 shooters (5 posse's of 20 each), so get your application in right away!  Get your AW 2006 entry form here. If you plan on camping, the fee is $10 per camper per night for hookups. The fee for non-hookups is $5 per night.  Camping is limited, so sign up soon!  It's not too late to volunteer for Adobe Walls 2006, just contact any of the club officers, and let them know how you can help.  Among other things, volunteers needed for Sunday afternoon takedown and range cleanup

April's match was a great success.  We had 61 shooters on 4 posse's!  And 12 shot the match clean!  Of course we must again offer our gratitude to our pards the Free Grazers for the excellent beans and also to those intrepid souls who help setup and teardown for each match.

The Coyote Valley Sharpshooters hosted the first International Postal Match on April 22nd at the Santa Clara County Sports Park .  It was quite a success, with 2 teams of 5 shooters each.  When the dust settled, the CVS team of Hawk Hardcase, Professor Cubby Bear, Carlos El Hombre, Becky Brave, and Wif emerged victorious over the Faultline team of Springfield Slim, Bad Eye Bobalu, Harris Hawk, Norseman, and yours truly by a score of 877 to 841.  We are exited to learn that there will be another Postal Match to be held at the same location on Saturday, July 22nd.  See the Cowboy News page for more details and contact info.  Many thanks again to Wif for all his hard work in setting up what turned out to be a really fun match.

Once again, the The Coyote Valley Regulators mounted shooting organization of Gilroy, in the spirit of SASS fellowship, will be sponsoring our May 21st monthly match.  Thanks guys, and as I recall, they did a splendid job last year, so we're looking forward to another great match this month.

This month we have more photographs for your viewing pleasure.  Silver Dollar Swede has sent me his pics from the April match.   Also, Swede sent in a movie!  Yes, a real movin' pitcher with sound no less!  You can see Springfield Slim in last month's match taking a mulligan on the last stage.  It is a really cool movie, with lots of smoke, fire and BOOM - even a couple of shotgun double discharges!  This will be an experiment though.  The file size is about 19MB, so if you are on dialup (like I am) it will take quite a while to download.  I will have to keep an eye on the amount of data traffic this takes up as we are on a low volume account.  If we don't overdo it, I may be able to post more movies in the future.  Thanks Swede!

I am going to be adding another new feature to the website - Members' Web Pages.  If you have a personal business or service you would like to advertise on our site, get in touch with me and we will see if we can put together a simple web page that will let our readers know about your business/service.  I would prefer to limit it to cowboy-related services, but as long as it does not go too far afield, let's see what we can put together.  It could also be about non-profit activities that would be of general interest to our readers.

Keep your powder dry and I'll see you at the May match!

Happy Trails,
- Fightin' Frank
